Unaka
"Unaka" is a compilation of short fiction. The stories center on the lives of working class people in the area where I live: Tennessee and Kentucky of the American South.
"Unaka" won an "Editor's Pick" award for outstanding literary quality in a 2022 Booklife review.
"Unaka" was awarded first place for general fiction and overall "top honor" at the Great Southeast Book festival in March of 2024.
Holston
"Holston" is a sequel of short fiction to the first book "Unaka." The book is a collection of three novellas and several short stories.
Characters of Unaka reappear in Holston in the manner of Balzac's "Comedie Humaine."
The theme of working class life in a fictional town in the foothills of the southern Appalachian Mountains is continued.
