Shona Blass was born in Glasgow and grew up in London. She wrote before she could read, and she\'s been writing stories ever since. She is the author of three powerful thrillers for young adults the Kingfisher series - Kingfisher, Eagle Heart and Phoenix. Since then, she\'s done a lot of research and daydreaming, and has written Prince Solomon for middle-grade children. She enjoyed writing for this age group so much she\'s hard at work on Solomon\'s next adventure. When she\'s not writing in her office, she can be heard playing the harp or found taking long walks with her husband in the New Forest where they live.

Kingfisher

'The seconds extend, filled with horror. I don't have an answer. I don't know what my father did to us. He left only one word: Kingfisher. I thought I'd figured it out, but I was wrong. Everything is too late, and now I'm going to die.'

Sixteen-year-old twins Dominic and Charley are on the run. Their father, a respected scientist with LifeStar Corporation, has been arrested and accused of treason.

The war between the security services and eco-terrorists is getting closer - both MI5 and the Disciples are after them.

Seeking refuge, they head to the Highlands with their cousin Flint. But Dominic is convinced their survival depends on deciphering his father's code word: Kingfisher

Eagle Heart

'I need to see the eagle wing again. I know she told me not to touch it, it's powerful, but right now I can't resist it. I pick it up, surprised at how light it is. My hand runs across the feathers.'

Dominic Minster wants justice. His father is wrongly imprisoned for treason. But when he's suddenly set free by the eco-terrorist group the Disciples, Dominic knows he must see him again. His twin sister Charley and cousin Flint insist that it's too dangerous.

The stakes couldn't be higher. Dominic must confront the Disciples' charismatic leader Gil Zimmerman. MI5 are tracking them down. LifeStar Corporation, the bio-company his father worked for, are advancing their deadly project.

Seeking justice is about to cost Dominic more than he could know. Everyone he loves is at risk. And he will have to find a strength beyond himself if he is to survive - the power and spirit of an eagle.

Phoenix

'You did well, Benjamin. You hid as planned. You survived. But now, you need to plot your revenge.' His eyes glisten like pools of dark water. I didn't think a ghost could be so lifelike. 'Phoenix,' he whispers.

After a shoot-out in London, Gil Zimmerman - eco-terrorist and leader of the Disciples - is dead. His son Benjamin is running for his life. All he's got is an address book, a memory stick and gun.

In the Highlands of Scotland, Jess McKenzie is working in her family's B&B. She's waiting for life to start when she goes to university. Then Benjamin arrives.

Benjamin and Jess have never met before, but their fathers shared a secret. They're about to discover who they really are, and just how much love can cost. Everyone's hunting Benjamin down. MI5. The Disciples. He's the only person with the key to PHOENIX.
