The Year 1072 - Retribution

By Rod Flint

At the behest of Earl Gospatric of Northumberland, Sir Hravn and Lady Ealdgith, dispossessed survivors of the brutal Harrying of the North, have to lead their war-band from Bamburgh Castle into Durham and Richmondshire in an attempt to disrupt King William’s return to the North before they can reclaim their lands on the Westmorland border.

They find that they have more than just Norman men-at-arms to overcome.

It is a tale of the fortitude of young people, their courage and ingenuity; and also of female empowerment and leadership during a time of increasing male dominance and fractured English society.

Written around historical characters and the geography of the North, their story brings to life the dramatic military, political and social events of that time.
