I’m a writer of fantasy books and the music that accompanies them. My fiction is neither steamy nor very stabby, certainly not explicit in either subject. It’s aimed at an adult audience, with adult themes, and I include LGBTQ characters.

I believe that the power of creativity is magic; it influences the emotions of readers, listeners, and viewers. I promise to weave that magic into everything I create. Accompanied of course by some adventure, a bit of romance, and a healthy dose of humor.

I live in the Greater Vancouver area on Canada’s west coast, and I’m happily married with three wonderful daughters. After spending many years working in Information Technology, I retired into my creative pursuits, writing fantasy novels, playing guitar and composing music.

The Eternal Muse: Desecration

When a song is a weapon, who can wield it?

Piper is a minstrel whose music incites forbidden magic. He lives in fear of being charged with heresy; the church uses the same power to crush offenders, without mercy or hope of redemption.
His problems have cost him both the woman he loves and his growing career as a minstrel. Worse, he’s entangled in the politics of the capital, attracting the scrutiny of the priests. Terrified they’ll turn him into a mindless beast, he runs.
Can he learn to control the magic, and use it to slice through centuries of the church’s lies? Or will he end up as the priests’ latest victim, all ability to feel hope, love, or even hate ripped from his mind?

The Eternal Muse: Desecration is the First book in the Eternal Muse trilogy.

The Eternal Muse: Revelation

Hidden adepts are manipulating minds in two kingdoms. Are Piper and Alaria strong enough to defeat those who draw their power from a thousand years of immersion in the dark magic of the Well of Souls?

Piper and Alaria, minstrel and warrior priestess, have deposed the traitorous hierarchs of their churches, freeing their kings from emotional slavery. But who enabled that slavery in the first place, and what will they do to regain their power?
Famous now as the liberators of two countries, renowned as minstrels in every court and tavern on the continent, Piper and Alaria also find themselves targets. Fending off assassins, both magical and violent, they need to find who’s behind the attacks, and where they’re hiding.
Do they possess enough control of their own newly won powers to survive? And is their love strong enough to overcome a clash between Alaria’s faith, and Piper’s lack of belief?

The Eternal Muse: Revelation is the second book in the Eternal Muse trilogy.

The Eternal Muse: Absolution

Alaria, warrior priestess of Eften, is poisoned by a fragment from the Well of Souls. The only cure lies beyond the emotional killing field that surrounds the Source.

Alaria and Piper have defeated the Source armies, but are still unable to live in peace. The power of their enemy looms over them and their countries; the Masters of the Source have been subdued, but not crushed, and they’re rebuilding their forces, forging new weapons.
Garren, former hierarch of Auld, escapes the Source, carrying the ability to take others through the barrier. After Alaria is attacked and crippled, Piper, Alaria and Garren must brave the barrier and enter the Source, to force the Masters to cure Alaria, and give up their control of the Well.
But how can three people, one of whom grows weaker every day, take down a group of ten, all powerful emotional sorcerers?

The Eternal Muse: Absolution is the third book in the Eternal Muse trilogy.

The Eternal Muse: The Gatekeeper's Way

Alaria dreams of becoming a Gatekeeper — a warrior-priestess of unmatched skill and power. But as she battles through the brutal selection competition, she learns that her fellow candidates will stop at nothing to steal her chance at glory.

Alaria is a gifted warrior, trained as a fighter since birth. Her skill is enhanced by hearing the voices of the One, allowing her to sense the emotions of those she fights. Such is her ability she’s invited to go to Gatekeeper training, a competition of the finest fighters.
Not everyone is pleased she’s there. Only the victor will join the order, and some competitors care nothing about faith, doing anything to triumph and gain the prestige and political power for themselves and their families.
With treachery underlying every step, Alaria must use all her willpower and expertise in her battle to become the warrior-priestess she was born to be. But with her competitors resorting to ruthless tactics to snatch the prize, is she strong enough to secure victory?

The Eternal Muse: The Gatekeeper’s Way, is a prequel novella to the Trilogy.

The Eternal Muse: The Maligned Minstrel

What do you do when your own mother condemns you for heresy?

Rasmus Kesmun is a minstrel like no other, possessing secret magic, the existence of which is considered blasphemous. He desperately hides this ‘gift’, in terror of being turned over to the priests. Unfortunately everyone in his village, including his family, already knows, and none will lift a finger to help him evade punishment.
He hopes for refuge and a fresh start at the Academy of Music, where no one knows who he is. But an abundance of talent makes him a target of envy, hated by those who think he should leave the awards and accolades to those blessed by favoritism.
Can Rasmus persist, swallow the indignities, and survive? Or should he use his peculiar gift to battle back, knowing what will happen if the priests discover what he can do?

The Eternal Muse: The Maligned Minstrel, is a prequel novel to the Eternal Muse Trilogy.
