Pete Oxley is a writer and public speaking coach who lives in the English Home Counties. He enjoys reading and writing in a wide range of areas but his main passions are sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction and Steampunk.

Having been writing for as long as he can remember, Pete is the published author of: the four book Infernal Aether series (The Infernal Aether, A Christmas Aether, The Demon Inside and Beyond the Aether), the prequel series The Old Lady of the Skies, and a number of other serials and short stories. He has also written and published the non-fiction book: The Wedding Speech Manual.

An avid reader with eclectic tastes and an overflowing set of bookcases, Pete loves anything with compelling characters, gripping storylines and endings that stick with you long after you’ve finished.

Pete is also the co-founder and director of Burning Chair Publishing, an independent publishing house focusing on fair deals for authors and great books for readers.

He lives with his wife, two young sons and a slowly growing guitar collection. Aside from writing and willingly speaking in front of large crowds of strangers, Pete spends his spare time playing music badly, supporting football teams that play badly, and writing about himself in the third person.

The Infernal Aether

The Aether always held the universe together… but in the nineteenth century, it just might tear it apart.

London, 1865. A world being torn apart by supernatural terrors.

A drunken adventurer who just wants a quiet life.

A genius whose inventions tend to make bad situations worse.

A terrifying underworld of demons, spirits, golems and clockwork men.

When an exiled demon uses the power of the Aether to create Hell on Earth, Augustus Potts and his friends must face their darkest fears to save everything—and everyone—they hold dear.

Can Augustus stay sober long enough to foil the demon’s plans?

Will Victorian London ever be the same again?

And what, exactly, is the Aether?

Dickens’ London has never seemed so terrifying. The Infernal Aether is the first book in a gothic fantasy series which has been described as “fantasy at its best”, “epic” and“no-holds-barred”. If you like page turners with unpredictable twists and chills then you’ll love Peter Oxley’s The Infernal Aether.

A Christmas Aether

The Adventure Continues...

A Christmas Aether - Three brand new short stories from the universe of The Infernal Aether. "With the end of the terror of The Infernal Aether, surely humanity is safe at last?"

In A Christmas Aether, Augustus Potts, beaten and bloody amidst the demon-infested London East End, is visited by three familiar spirits who reveal terrifying insights into the past, present and future. Can Augustus save himself before it is too late?

In The Ballad of William Morley, a zealous police officer struggles with personal loss in the midst of increasing unrest resulting from the Aether's demonic invasion. Can he retain his sense of right and wrong while everything crumbles around him?

Finally, the newly rediscovered scientific / occult document The Potts Demonology provides valuable insights into the changes which took place in the late 19th Century, as well as the creatures which forced this chaos onto the world.

This book brings together three new stories following on from the events of The Infernal Aether and foreshadows the struggles to come in the next instalment: The Demon Inside.

The Demon Inside

How can you save the world when it’s impossible to tell friend from foe?

London, 1868.

Augustus Potts is in trouble. The runic sword that gives him his supernatural powers is also turning him into the one thing he fears and despises the most: a demon.

He’s not the only one: N’yotsu, the one-time saviour of mankind, realises that the only way he can survive is to turn back into the evil demon Andras.

When his closest friends and allies start to disappear, Augustus finds himself in a race against time to save his soul as well as the whole world.

For the Fulcrum is fast approaching, bringing a new magical Dark Age which will expose mankind to the full terrors of the Aether. More and more powerful demons are materialising on Earth, and it will not be long before humanity is overwhelmed.

In this most desperate of times, when the line between good and evil is not just blurred but torn to pieces, could mankind’s greatest enemy also be our only hope?

The Demon Inside is the second book in Peter Oxley’s Infernal Aether Series, a dark gothic fantasy set in Victorian London described as "fantasy at its best", "epic" and "no holds barred". If you like electrifying action, rich characters and demons galore, then you'll love The Demon Inside.

Beyond The Aether

When Satan himself comes calling, what would you do?

In the summer of 1869 evil once again threatens England from the endless darkness of the Aether, with humans and their new supernatural allies locked in a battle for survival against the malevolent Almadite forces.

When the famed demon hunter Kate Thatcher is kidnapped by the enemy, Augustus Potts and his friends must risk everything—including the safety of the entire planet—to rescue her before she is lost forever.

Their quest will take them to the very edge of existence, to distant worlds beyond their worst nightmares where they must overcome an unholy entity that could destroy everything they hold dear.

Their only chance of rescuing Kate and saving mankind lies in forming an alliance with the demon Andras. But Andras has his own plans that could lead to him holding ultimate power over all creation…

If you could cheat the laws of time and space to save the one you cared the most about, would you do so—no matter what the price?

Beyond the Aether is the third book in Peter Oxley’s Infernal Aether Series, a dark gothic fantasy set in Victorian London described as “fantasy at its best”, “epic” and “no holds barred”. If you like electrifying action, rich characters and fantastical demonic worlds, then you’ll love Beyond the Aether.
