Hi, folks,
I was trying to think of something clever to write, like don\'t you just \"love\" this summer heat (NOT), with its West Nile virus mosquitoes flitting around and deer eating in your yard -- and I live in town!
I\'ve lived many years in southwest Virginia, with its beautiful, lush mountains, though I am kinda a Yankee Virginian (roots up north in New York).
Being a freelance journalist (also teaching a few years at R. U.) has been interesting. But being an author \"you\" get to say what \"you\" want, especially if you are self published!
I can\'t believe it\'s almost 2 years since I went to the Erma Bombeck Writers\' Workshop in Dayton, where they concentrate on memoirs and humor writing. I have been some \"comments\" in my upcoming book/eBook \"Nature vs. Technology -- who\'s winning?\" cuz a lot of it is more negative than I would like. Am a Master naturalist member, so uh maybe we \"should\" spend more time outdoors, if we don\'t get fried first! (Just kidding -- sort of).
I would also like to have a writing buddy (someone to encourage me to write and meet writing targets). I am not with an in-person writing group just now.

LET'S RUN OUR SCHOOLS TOGETHER

If you are new to parenting, or ever been frustrated about the way public schools work, or are a beginning teacher or principal, then this book is for you. Each chapter is about the different parts of the education community, such as parents, principals, teachers, school board members, those with innovative ideas, etc. Endorsed by a former education association president, this 90 page book would be helpful for a grandparent or anyone wanting to get more involved with public education. As a former logic/writing instructor and spouse of a public school teacher and parent, I know things can get testy, but there are ways to sort it all out.

Great American Women in Science and Environment

Ever wonder who inspired Sally Ride to be our first U. S. woman in space? Or who talked Elizabeth Blackwell into being the first U. S. woman doctor? Or why Madam C. J. Walker decided to sell specially made haircare products to African American women? And why did Erin Brockovich become an environmental activist, or Rachel Carson author of "Silent Spring," on the dangers of DDT? These women of passion and community interest are worth learning more about in this YA oriented book, with questions and a glossary at the end of each chapter for easy reading. It would be a good reading gift!
