He has published five books of poetry, three of which have won awards.

Now they are struggling to survive in modern society, with often violent, sometimes humorous, and always exciting results. Follow their exploits from the steppes of Siberia to exotic Kashmir, India, amid the clash of armies, religions, and criminal gangs. The half-Neanderthal boy matures into dangerous adulthood relying on his Neanderthal strengths and on the warrior philosophy of the Bhagavad-Gita. Mystery, mayhem, and romance abound in one of the most extraordinary stories you will ever read.
In Neanderthal Gita by Michael Baldwin, is a novel of high adventure, in which you will experience what it was like to live as a Neanderthal hunter---a hunter of both wild animals and men.

A Slam Poetry Manual

• This is a short, easy to read, manual on how to write and perform slam poetry, and how to produce a poetry slam. It was written by an experienced slam poet and producer of slams. A Slam Poetry Manual was written because there were no How-To manuals on slam poetry at the time (2003). It is still the definitive book on slam. I wanted to encourage young people to become interested in writing and performing slam poetry. I also wanted to make it easier for them to produce poetry slams themselves. A Slam Poetry Manual defines a poetry slam, describes the history of poetry slams, provides the rules for a slam, and even a sample score sheet. The manual also provides guidance on how to write and perform slam poems so as to score well in slams.
Unfortunately, A Slam Poetry Manual is no longer in print and thus not available except as a used book at highly inflated prices (several hundred dollars). I still have a few new copies available on my website for $50 each.

Passing Strange

Passing Strange is a 112-page collection of 12 short stories. Most are Science-Fiction, a few are weird tales written to tantalize the imagination. Could we be living in a video game? What would you do if you found alien poop in your neighborhood park? What would you wish for if you were granted only one? What if an alien offered to solve our global warming crisis? Would you be willing to sell your soul? Would you go back in time to save the one you love? What kind of test would you use to identify an alien posing as human? These are a few of the questions pondered in Passing Strange.

Surpassing Strange

Surpassing Strange is volume 2 of the Passing Strange Series. It is a 107-page collection of 14 Science-Fiction short stories that will add some needed spice and weirdness to your life, providing just the strange perspective you need to challenge your ordinary reality. Some of these new stories carry on my concern with contemporary social issues (such as global warming, bullying, abortion, animal rights, gun control, etc.) by extrapolating them into the future or exploring them thru unusual perspectives. Other stories here briefly ponder philosophical questions such as the nature of good and evil and the concept of justice. Some are simply for the fun of making our spines tingle a bit. I like to think each story will be a thought provoker that you will consider the implications of after reading.

Lone Star Heart

Lone Star Heart is a 120-page softcover 8 x 10 inch book, containing 55 poems divided into 4 sections: Texas weather, Texas places, Texas critters, and Texas folks. It also contains 15 full-color images of paintings by artist Johnny Bowen.

Chronicles of Frank

The stories in this 45 page book chronicle some of the misadventures of Michael’s long-time friend, Frank, a rancher on the dry plains of North Texas. Frank is one of the most intelligent people of Michael’s acquaintance, but Frank is also one of the most gently outrageous characters Michael has had the privilege of knowing.

Michael explains, “I would tend to doubt Frank's veracity about these stories except that I've been involved in some of these misadventures, myself. I have attempted to imbue these stories with some of the same insouciant tall-taledness with which Frank presented them to me. I hope you find pleasure in both these genuine Texas stories and the illustrations of them by Gary Miller, a great comic cartoonist.”

Beyond Passing Strange

Venture within these 175 pages to savor twelve new short stories of science-fiction, mild horror, and alluring strangeness from the guru of wonder-weird, Michael Baldwin. Did God and Satan foist Original Sin on Adam and Eve with the three-door Monte Hall mind trick? Why might a mother microwave her baby? Could texting while driving be an act of domestic terrorism? Is your too-beautiful-to-be-true lover possibly from another dimension? Maybe that black hole in her heart provides a clue. A modern Virgin Mary claims to be the mother of twins Jesus and Judas. Do you think the lives of accountants are dull? This one audits a time-travel company on the Moon. Chaos ensues when bug-eyed monsters capture a beautiful Earth girl and fall hopelessly in love with her. And Zbub is back! That fast-talking supernatural trickster with the stuffed Chupacabra takes a co-ed back in time; helps a family with a deadly, haunted chair; puts a homunculus in your head; and wants to help us save the world from Cthulhu and his sister, too. If you crave some intellectual challenge in your reading adventures, Beyond Passing Strange is your gateway to stories of mindful weirdness and madcap imagination.

Birds, Beasts, & Blossoms: Asian Art Prints and Poems

This 140-page book features 65 full-color Asian art prints with a short poem by Mr. Baldwin opposite each of them.

A Few Bricks Shy of a Chevrolet

A Few Bricks Shy Of A Chevrolet is a 216 page collection of 12 flash plays for one to four characters that require little or no scenery or props. Each play is suitable for high school, college, or community drama productions. These plays explore contemporary social issues thru strange characters such as vampires, werewolves, aliens, and talking animals. By reading and producing these plays, you can answer these and many other questions: What really happened in the Garden of Eden? Do angels always have humans’ best interests in mind? Would you abort a fetus you knew would become a psychopath? What if Elvis is still alive but came from an alternate universe? What test could we use to unmask an alien in human disguise? Why are vampires and werewolves against gun control?

More Than Passing Strange

The Quantum Uncertainty of Love

“This extraordinary collection of poems was born from a lifelong fascination with man's spiritual nature as well as with several areas of scientific inquiry that led to an awareness of the entanglements that exist among science, philosophy, and spirit. Poet Michael Baldwin dares to ask “Who are we?” and “What is our purpose?” and “What about God?” The reader finds that the best answers come from the interweavings of knowledge and mysticism, science and metaphysics, empiricism and intuition. The great writings of philosophy and ancient wisdom are helpful, but their greatest value comes from the clues they provide toward finding the answers through our own spiritual and intellectual journey.” This 118 page book includes 65 poems and 10 full-color illustrations.
In May, 2019, QUOL received a 5-star review from the Readers’ Favorite Awards, and was nominated by Shanti Arts Press for the National Book Award.

Again Passing Strange

Again Passing Strange is volume 5 of the Passing Strange series. It is a 186-page book of mainly science-fiction short stories. It included eleven stories and eleven images to accompany them. Delight your taste for strangeness with these 11 stories of the wild, weird, and wonderful. Let your reality bend and descend into these mind-bending stories of plausible unreality, many based on known science.

The Sublime Landscape & Beyond

This book is a collaboration between two longtime friends who found they both appreciated each other's creative work: one a painter, the other a poet. The Sublime Landscape & Beyond is the result of many years of rewarding collaboration. This 114-page book contains 40 full-color illustrations of Bowen's paintings along with a poem written for each painting by Mr. Baldwin.
