Portents of Chaos

The realm of Drinnglennin hangs poised on the cusp of chaos, for Urlion Konigur, the High King, is dying and has yet to name an heir. Rumors abound that the Helgrins, Drinnglennin’s bitterest foes, are preparing their longboats to raid the Isle’s shores, while the roving å Livåri folk, for whom the island kingdom is the last sanctuary, are strangely disappearing. And in distant Belestar, the fabled dragons are stirring from their self-imposed exile…

Drinnglennin’s hopes lie with the wizard Morgan, who must gather together and safeguard the king’s possible heirs, all three of whom are coming of age. Yet a dangerously powerful house seeks the succession for one of their own, even if it means disrupting the fragile peace of the realm.

One thing is certain: whoever next sits on the Einhorn Throne will determine the fate not only of Drinnglennin, but of all who dwell in the Known World.

A Realm at Stake

An ominous darkness is gathering over the Known
World, and none will escape its long shadow...

In Helgrinia, Fynn, the bastard son of Aetheor Yarl, finds his position ever more precarious—and when tragedy strikes on Midsommer’s Eve, he is compelled to take a perilous vow. Across the Erolin Sea, Master Morgan travels the length of the Isle determined to uncover the roots of King Urlion’s illness; the treachery he discovers sets him on an even more dangerous course. In the elven sanctuary of Mithralyn, Whit and Halla’s mutual enmity grows, and an ill-thought out decision by one of the cousins spells calamity for the other. And in Drinnkastel, Maura and Leif, summoned there by the ailing High King and presented as royal relatives, become embroiled in the intrigue and jealousies of the Konigur court. To make matters worse, they risk exposure by Borne Braxton, also in the capital, who knows Maura’s true identity.

All the while, deep in the Lost Lands, Lazdac Strigori stirs his cauldron of chaos, as the bitter seeds he has planted bear their baneful fruit. A day of reckoning is fast approaching for those he deems have denied him his rightful heritage, which bodes ill for all.

Bindings of Peril

Conflicts flare throughout the Known World, and an entire continent teeters on the precipice of war…

Albrenian troops are boldly gathering on their shared border with Gral, a land already overrun with Helgrin colonies along its northern coast. In Restaria, the Nelvors’ brutal attack is certain to provoke a swift response from the yarl. To the south, the Jagar are making deeper forays into Olquarian territory. And on the Isle, though Roth Nelvor is invested as High King—to public acclaim—his first appointments strike notes of discord with more than a few lords of the lower realms, and with at least one member of his Tribus.

It is amidst this turmoil that the paths of Master Morgan and his young charges will soon diverge. Morgan must fulfill his promise to Urlion Konigur, while Whit resolves to depart Mithralyn and take his future into his own hands. Maura, still in Drinnkastel, is discovering that her position at court may be uncertain. Leif embarks on a dangerous mission alone, and Fynn finds himself in prison, left to languish without hope of release. In Gral, Borne’s star is rising as he takes up the life of a soldier, and Halla rides with the å Livåri as they try to rescue their people from enslavement.

Some of them will succeed in their endeavors. Some will fail. And one among them will be cast into Lazdac Strigori's sphere… as the dark wizard moves ever closer to exacting his terrible vengeance.

The Wings of Dread

From all corners of the Known World, Maura, Borne, Halla, Whit, Fynn, and Morgan must come together once more to strive against a sea of rising conflicts. The power struggle between Roth Nelvor and the lords of the Lower Realms rages on, while the Helgrins, the Albrenians, and the vaar of the Lost Lands all prepare to seize more power abroad. How the young defenders of the Isle choose to meet these growing hostilities will determine the destiny of men, dragons, and elves alike. Victory is far from assured, and in the coming wars, not all can hope to survive.

The Wings of Dread, the final book of The Drinnglennin Chronicles, brings the saga to a dazzling conclusion. As the dark forces threatening this vividly rendered world pit ruthless ambition against the unmeasured courage of those who would stand against them, all will be swept toward a dramatic climax none could have foretold.

But in order to do this, Sarah must call upon powers of which she has no memory, nor any idea how to harness. If she is to rescue what little life remains in Hutanya, she must embark on a dangerous quest to confront a dark magic and unlock the secrets of her past… and of her heart.
