I grew up on the magic island of Eigg in the Inner Hebrides, a fertile environment for the imagination.
I had a career in education, during which I had two non- fiction books published, was a columnist for the Times Educational Supplement and contributed to a number of educational books and journals.

Now retired, I’ve returned to my first love - fiction. I also continue to write articles and occasional poems.

My first self published book is a young adult novel, ‘Adults and How to Survive Them’ published in May 2024.

Adults and How to Survive Them

A young adult novel, a cross between ‘A Catcher in the Rye’ and the Netflix Series ‘Sex Education’, while being neither as dark as the first nor as explicit as the second!
Danny, 15, recounts the first week of his school holidays, while he wrestles with bullies, wayward adults and his own feelings of failure. His gay friend Joe comes to the rescue, while the unattainable Ava - the coolest girl in school - shows an unexpected interest.
