My name is Felicity Radcliffe. I divide my time between a village in rural Cambridgeshire, where I live with my husband and our dog, and a narrowboat on England's beautiful canals. After a long, varied and eventful career in management consultancy, working in the UK, Europe, China and India, I finally took the plunge and started writing full time in May 2018. Since then I have published the Grand Union series, a trilogy of character-driven mysteries set on England's canals, and Ice Magic, a collection of short stories and flash fiction for the time poor. My short stories and poems are broadcast regularly on HCR104fm and included in their podcasts. I am also a scriptwriter and script manager for an award-winning local radio soap opera called Huntsford. I am currently writing the screenplay of the Grand Union series.

Ice Magic

Love to read, but short of time?

Spring comes. Mountain ice melts. Water flows into the valley. Flowers bloom. Time makes it all happen. Nature demands time, but we seldom take it. Sitting down with a book often feels impossible. I hope this book can help.

Even if you only have thirty seconds, there are stories in here for you. You can read them in one go, in less time than it takes to make a cup of tea. If you can carve out half an hour or more, I invite you to lose yourself in a longer story. I have estimated the reading times, so you can plan your meetings with the different characters.

Choose from over twenty stories. Meet genteel, impoverished Maria, hiding from her past in a sordid Viennese suburb. Read a tale narrated by a water droplet, an animal, or a timeless, universal entity. Find out why Fenland care home residents are tormented by state secrets, or how classics expert Anthony destroyed his perfect life. The choice is wide – and it’s yours.

Enjoy stealing time to read.
