A South Carolina native, I now live in Youngstown, Ohio, with my husband, teen daughter, and four rescue dogs. Outside of writing, I'm the communications director for our church and have been professionally editing since 2011.

I am the founder of Author Cultivation, a cost-effective service for writers who need help to get their ideas turned into books.

My first love was horses with books a close second. I'm also a history buff, particularly about all things Victorian and Edwardian New York City.

Some of my writing background:

• As a freelance magazine writer, delivered over 50 features and cover stories, both print and online.
• Documentary research and story development.
• Ghostwrote fiction and nonfiction books.
Contracted by a former HarperCollins Children's editor to create a full-length (60,000
words) young adult novel for Storybird.com's Creative Partner Program.
• Contracted by Tales.com to develop a young adult novella (15,000 words) for their
interactive storytelling app.
• Completed high-quality, error-free work to project specifications under editorial
guidelines.

Tresor Day: A Brief History of an Ill-Starred Village

Tresor Day dawns bright and beautiful. As the village gathers for its annual Well-Drop–sending children down into a well to find an elusive key–elderly Miss Cabe knows deep in her bones that a thing about this day simply is not right.

A haunting image encased in a glass paperweight inspired this quick read. I included that photo in the book so that it will now haunt you, too, Dear Reader.

Recovery Journal: Write Your Way Out of Toxic Relationships

☠️ Do you wonder if you're in a toxic relationship? ☠️

These can be with romantic interests, family members, co-workers, or even adult "friends."

If you've ever been in a relationship that you suspect or know was toxic or outright abusive, it's probably left some deep wounds. If you question your own mind and memories, if you blame yourself for another's actions, or if you have trouble trusting yourself and others, this journal is for you.

This journal provides a very basic space in which you can process your interactions -- both past and present. What's it lacking? Well, you'll find:

No judgment.
No "dig deep" prompts.
No need for your responses to look "pretty."
The 12 prompts cover your basic reactions and conditions of each encounter with a toxic person. There are 44 sets of these same 12 questions, so that you can look back over the encounters and find patterns and create strategies for the future.

This is helpful if you are in a situation where you are No Contact or wish to be No Contact / Low Contact with someone who repeatedly violates your sense of self-worth and pushes or ignores your boundaries.

The journal includes a glossary of terminology used when dealing with narcissistic and toxic people.

This journal is not a replacement for professional counseling or therapy but is a great tool for use alongside guided work, and useful to help those navigating their way through lesser conflicts, such as poor family relationships and "frenemies."

From the Author:

Having been through several toxic relationships in the past, I began to see patterns through the journaling process. By writing down not only my emotional responses, but the facts of each encounter, I was able to begin healing. My hope is that the prompts will help others record their experiences so they can regain trust in themselves. I’ve found it’s especially important to write down the facts in relationships where an abuser is gaslighting his or her victim.

Writer's Scene Workbook: A Writer's Guide to Crafting Multi-Dimensional Scenes

This guided journal is for both pantsers and planners!

Each of the 31 entries contains two pages of scene-building prompts to help you "pre-write" before your actual writing session.

Goalkeeping takes the spotlight, with places to keep track of words written per session so that you can build momentum and make great progress in your novel or short story.

The last section of the book is an index intended to help you keep track of characters and settings.
