Clare Lydon is a London-based author who penned her first novel at primary school and it scored 9.5/10. She's still not sure what she was docked half a point for. A lack of lesbians perhaps? Her mission in life now is to rectify that mistake, by publishing a series of contemporary romance novels with lesbian protagonists. Hurray!

Clare's most recent novel - The Long Weekend - is the story of nine friends (four couples and a single) who rent a house by the sea for a university reunion. Tension, fine food, sex and revelations stud the weekend, leaving relationships in the balance and friendships on the line. Will they all come through unscathed? Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of a long weekend.

Clare's first novel, London Calling, dealt with the life & loves of Jess Sharp, a 32-year-old Londoner who's just returned to the UK after getting her heart broken in Oz. Will Jess eventually overcome her romantic ineptitude and find her happy ever after? Or will she continue to trip over her own feet in the race for romance?

The Long Weekend

Secrets. Lies. Sex. Intrigue. When a group of friends rent a house by the sea, there's excitement in the air. Fresh air, sandy beaches and historic friendships - what could possibly go wrong?

The catch is, university sweethearts Vic & Stevie are on the rocks, their three-year marriage floundering, while Kat & Abby's combustible relationship looks set to ignite at any second. Meanwhile, Tash & Laura have downed responsibilities & kids for the weekend and are ready for some fun; single CID sergeant Geri can't wait to get away from the London scene to reboot her slumbering love life and that's not to mention Stu & his boyfriend Darren who bring their own man-sized baggage.

Add in laughs, simmering tension, romance & no shortage of wine and you've got all the ingredients for a rollercoaster ride of a long weekend!

What people are saying...

"Fantastic book that harks back to the feeling and atmosphere of Peter's Friends..."

"A fantastic read that will make you laugh and cringe in all the right places!"

London Calling

"When the plane took off, I wondered what Karen was doing, if she was happy, knew I was leaving or wanted me back. Whatever, it was too late now. I was gone..."

Jess Sharp is at a crossroads - back in London, living in her parents' spare room, jobless and single. Not quite the irresistible package she was aiming for at age 32.
One night things take an upward turn when she meets someone who could be a game-changer. But everything in her riotously chaotic life seems to get in the way, including her best friend's wedding, far too much tequila and the ghosts of girlfriends past. The course of true love has never been so injury-prone.

Will Jess eventually overcome her romantic ineptitude and find her happy ever after? Or will she continue to trip over her own feet in the race for romance?

A cracking debut novel from a new UK talent that zips along with sparkling dialogue and believable, yet original characters.
