WE'LL DANCE WHEN THE GHOST WALKS

Biography of an acrobatic dance act, touring the British variety theatres throughout 1930s to mid 1950s.
Starting in Birmingham, England in 1917, with the characters growing up as part of a lively, hardworking and creative family, the tales move swiftly to lives spent treading the boards. Performing their unique and thrilling form of acrobatic ballet, Les Cygne Four embrace travel, both wonderful and loathsome landladies, war, tragedy and love, displaying courage and determination along the way.

As a child, the author Annette-Frances B. lived and breathed theatre, eagerly absorbing weird and wonderful true tales of daring adagio dancers, singers, magicians, snake charmers, classical musicians, spectacular costumes, dazzling scenery and… well, the list is endless. The tales were told to her by her family – her father, Louis, an acrobatic dancer, her aunts and her uncle who, with Louis, formed Les Cygne Four, an adagio dance act, and by her mother, Vera – a soprano singer. She no longer has those loving, charismatic characters around her, but she still has the tales and she would like to share them with her children, her grandchildren and with you – her readers – in the hope that they will entertain and inspire.
